"Blossoms of Peace" is a name given to an initiative launched by the Municipality of Brescia (Italy), in collaboration with Don Pierangelo Ferrari and with Fr. Ibrahim Faltas, the Franciscan parish priest of Jerusalem.
This initiative shows how, once more, Italians are capable of translating into practice the love for peace which Francis, their compatriot saint, used to show.
They have realized this quest for peace by offering the possibility for a shared experience to young people coming from the Holy Land. During the first week of August the young people were welcomed for a camping experience with the Scouts of Brescia at Cler, close to the Lake of Idro.
The Italian Scouts immediately mixed with the Israeli and Palestinian scouts for moments of formation and relaxation. The participants shared in doing the common chores.
Even though communicating was sometimes difficult because of language problems, and the weather was not always kind, the experience was a great success.
Between the 8 and 16 August the young people went to the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Riosecco, close to Capovalle. During the week they made an evaluation of the project in a place where they were totally cut off from the rest of the world and could reflect. The local "guardie forestali" guarded the group during this experience.
