CUSTODY OF
|
Data: 26.8.2005 A group of eight young Christian Israelis have participated in the XX World Day of Youth (10-21 August 2005). They came from Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Bat Yam, Rishon LeZtion and Jerusalem. They were led by Fr. Apollinare. The young people visited Strasbourg, and then they were received in Germany at Gernsbach and Unkel, from where they went to take part in the Prayer Vigil and in the Papal Mass at the large open space of Marienfeld at Cologne. The photos show the group in front of the Cologne Cathedral, during the moments of work and meals, and during meetings with some Palestinian participants, who also came from Jersualem.
The feast of the flags expressed the joy of being together from all parts of the world, united in one common faith, and encouraged by the same hope.
The Israeli group always aroused a sense of curiosity on the part of those who do not know that there are Jews having a Christian faith. These young people were members of Qehillah, the Catholic Jewish-speaking community, which meets in the house which the Custody opened in the new city of Jerusalem. The house is dedicated to Saints Simon and Anne. In this place, as well as in Jaffa, daily liturgy is celebrated in Hebrew. |
