The evening of 31 May Christians have concluded the month dedicated to the cult of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ.

For the occasion the Latin parish of Saint Saviour in Jerusalem has organized the traditional procession along the streets of the Christian Quarter of the Old City.

The procession was presided by the Patriarch who held an icon of the Virgin Mary during all the time of the procession.

With the same icon His Beatitude blessed those present for three times, in the courtyard of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, in the church of the Latin Patriarchate, and finally in the courtyard of the Friary of Saint Saviour.

The Patriarch was accompanied by religious and civil authorities.

The Franciscan friars of the community of Saint Saviour and other Franciscan communites in Jerusalem were also present.

The procession is a very popular annual event for the local Christians of Jerusalem. It is the most widely attended religious function after the Palm Sunday Procession.
