CUSTODY OF |
As in previous years and following the tradition of Jerusalem, conserved by the Franciscan Order, the procession took place to the location of the Descent of the Holy Spirit Pentecost Sunday. At four in the afternoon they arrived at the Cenacle starting from St. Saviour’s Monastery, the Father Custodian of the Holy Land accompanied the Franciscans. In the Cenacle many of the faithful, religious and pilgrims were already waiting. According to tradition there were sung Vespers, during which was read from the Acts of the Apostles (2, 1-1) where it describes the coming of the Holy Spirit in the form of tounges of fire accompanied by a strong wind. In this fashion it was possible to celebrate the sacred event, that concludes the Easter season, in its proper place. From here the Apostles left to announce the gospel message to all nations. From here we also left encouraged by the strength of the Holy Spirit to fulfil our daily mission. With feelings of nostalgia we parted from the place that has been and we continue to consider our first Franciscan Monastery in Jerusalem. |
