The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation organized a special march for peace in the Holy Land. The children, belonging to the various Christian communities, started at 9:00 from the Mount of Olives, near the site of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ and the "Our Father" church, the well-known prayer sanctuary where Christ taught the Lord’s Prayer to his disciples.

This march is part of "Journey to Jerusalem: together for peace" program that HCEF, Christian brethren in the West, Custody of the Holy Land, Pontifical Mission for Palestine and Caritas Jerusalem. Together with HCEF all the participating organizations, parishes and children express their inherent tie with Jerusalem, its shrines and people, their equal right to worship, and their call for peace.

The organisers prepared a beautiful and joyous festival with songs, music, banners and coloured balloons, From the top of the Mount of Olives all the participants descended in a procession to the Gethsemane church. After a brief prayer and venerating the rock of Christ’s agony the children released, in front of the church, in a blue sky, ten white doves as a symbol of peace and also many balloons, symbols of hope that a peaceful future could be built on reciprocal respect and the collaboration of all the residents of the Holy Land.

The Christian children’s march for peace concluded with a visit to the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre where only the power of our Risen Lord can enable new hearts to build bridges necessary for peace.
