MASS FOR JOHN PAUL II IN THE PARISH CHURCH OF JERUSALEM

A Mass was celebrated in the parish church of Saint Saviour in Jerusalem for the repose of Pope John Paul II. All the students of the Christian schools of Jerusalem were invited for this Mass. The Mass was presided by Fr. Abdel Mesih, coordinator of the Christian schools.
Nearly one thousand students from ten schools took part, including children coming from three kindergartens. Among them there were students coming from two Coptic schools, from one Greek Orthodox school, and from an Anglican school.
This was the first time that students from other Christian denomination schools took part together in a Mass. Two teachers spoke about the merits of the dead Pope. During the homily, Fr. Abdel Mesih explained the role of the Holy Father in promoting peace in the Holy Land and in furthering Christian worship.
