Source: Custody of the Holy Land
Father Ibrahim Faltas from Kafr el-Dawar, in Egypt, until now the director of the school of the Custody of the Holy Land in Bethlehem, has arrived in Jerusalem and was installed as the new Pastor of Jerusalem. This parish and its dependent parishes of the Terra Santa College, Beit Hanina, Bethany, Bethpage, and Beit Safafa comprise 5,500 faithful.
The new pastor was received with joy, and the Church of St. Saviors was packed with parishioners. Father Artemio, the Vicar of the Custody, Father Francesco Maria, and other priests concelebrated the Mass. The Orthodox pastor of Jerusalem, Archimandrite Hanna Attalla, was also in attendance.
Father Marwan welcomed Father Ibrahim and presented to him the apostolic groups of the parish. Fr. Marwan will be replacing Fr. Ibrahim as the new director of the school in Bethlehem. At the end of the Eucharistic celebration Fr. Ibrahim thanked the parishioners for the warm reception, the sacristans for the preparation of the church, and also God for the grace to be the Pastor in the city of Jerusalem where Jesus underwent the Paschal Mystery. Here he will develop and carry out his pastoral work with the collaboration of the parishioners.
Afterwards, the Scouts accompanied him and the parishioners to the parish hall in order to welcome him and to have refreshments. Just as any good pastor should, Father Ibrahim arrived full of energy and apostolic zeal. Welcome Father Ibrahim!
